If you’ve opened this document expecting rationality, you’ve made a grave mistake.
There is an odd pattern between Berdley and Spamton I’ve begun to notice and this document shall attempt to note all of this and what I think it all may mean.
Let us begin with a simple fact:
SPAMTON AND BERDLEY NEVER INTERACT
They have 0 potential to even know each other's names or exist in the same places at the same time.
These characters are about as separate as possible, outside of occupying the same Darkworld for a time.
Yet….there’s strange allusions between the two.
To start with the weakest connection, their personalities
Both are overshadowed and down on their luck guys who attain success via leeching off of others.
They basically have almost parallel developments, and both want recognition and to be seen as some sorta big shot/smart nerd.
They both as well have some “ideal” shown of their body.
Spamton having NEO he’s striving for, and Berdley wanting to be like his Golden statue (And have nipples)
Both are as well manipulated by the Queen in a similar way, being readily discarded whenever she got the chance.
At the end of the peaceful route for either, they both learn the power of FRIENDSHIP as well.
Now onto more tangible similarities.
Both have an odd relationship with Noelle and her Childhood, as well in their routes both are trying to get something out of Noelle just to have her turn the tables on them.
They both have an obsession with their face being plastered upon stuff but especially their weapons, to stroke an odd ego.
Berdley made his statue, and has his face on his Halberd.
Spamton having almost all of his attacks invoke his face, and his old posters.
(The Queen somewhat does this as well I’ll admit, though she does have an odd relation with both Berdley and Spamton.)
As well both their “Super forms” invoke futuristic bodysuit designs, however for contrast, Berdley wields a melee weapon whilst Spamton wields a Megaman Blaster
…
As well to make matters worse their default face sprites are moderately similar.
Same kinda hairstyle, same shaped glasses, and Berdley’s beak matches fairly well against Spamton’s nose.
If Berdley had a megachad chin to match Spamton’s mouth it’d be even more uncanny.
Not to mention Spamton has vague bird like allusions about him including his Blue Pipis Eggs (Although the game insists they are some form of clam)
As well they are Both puppeted against their will, Spamton in his NEO fight and Berdley in well…
Both these puppet fights are resolved via friendship or a violent explosion to boot.
Not to mention they both share an exact same phrase/joke
And I have looked into this best I could but I can NOT find anywhere else in Deltarune or Undertale that two UNRELATED characters share a phrase/joke (With the exception of long running jokes between more than 2 characters)
WHY IS THIS THE CASE ITS SO WEIRD.
Now, some of you may be saying “Well they both have rollercoaster fights, that’s a connection at least”
And well a very loose as heck one sure, but that just adds another question
WHY THE HELL DO THEY BOTH HAVE ROLLERCOASTER FIGHTS?
Wouldn’t it have made more sense for Spamton to have a teacup ride fight? Ever ascending towards heaven?
Berdley having a Rollercoaster fight is just random too.
So that’s another odd similarity.
Then there’s as well…
The fact that in the weird route they are both the only bosses frozen by Noelle…
But even moreso, they’re the only two we don’t have 100% confirmation of their fate in that route.
Berdley is said to “not seem awake” and we have no clue how dying in the Darkworld works for lighteners still.
Not to mention the piece of the toy that’s supposed to represent Berdley within the Hospital simply says that it broke away from its implied fate (On the normal route).
Then we have Spamton who…we don’t even get to see get frozen for some reason? The screen cuts to black. Sure it could be for solely dramatic effect but it’s still very odd, it could cut to black AFTER showing Spamton get frozen over.
Naturally seeing as Spamton is tied to the Darkworld, we don’t learn of anything after but it’s still a weird detail.(I have been informed you still get Spamton’s item on the weird route though)
Thus we now are led into what I think this all means.
This is simply me trying to find sense in all these weird similarities so the noted connections end here, and the nonsense increases tenfold
But it answers a big question people have had for the weird route.
How does the weird route proceed as normal if Berdley is dead?
He’s not dead, that’s how.
Spamton wants one thing on the main route, to be able to fuse with a lightner’s soul to Ascend to heaven.
We don’t know what this would cause, what it would look like, or anything.
What if the reason they have so many parallels is somehow Spamton was able to Fuse with Berdley in the darkworld to help them both escape their fates.
Either Spamton piloting Berdley, or Berdley piloting Spamton.
Perhaps swapping off, maybe Berdley is in full control in the light world just to further add how Spamton can never reach heaven?
Berdley would naturally accept whatever Spamton offered, also to just not die.
Via Spamton’s remaining energy, Berdley is able to get back up in the Lightworld.
Spamton gets his Lightworld soul and can finally break his strings presumably
NEO and Berdley’s Darkworld outfit look almost made to fuse as well. Not to mention the combined designs give Berdley a lot of things he wanted.
Wings, A Big Muscle Body like his Statue, and most importantly ...Nipples…
Berdley gets a lot out of the deal as well.
Not to mention they could wield a Halberd+Gun combo which is kinda cool.
As well, their similar designs have interesting prospects when fused.
When Berdley is Speaking, Spamton’s nose opens up to be Berdley’s mouth and Spamton’s mouth turns into a GigaChad chin for Berdley.
When Spamton is speaking Berdley’s glasses color over and naturally which mouth is being used is reversed.
As well due to their similar overall goals and personality inclinations they’d probably get along super well in a fused state.
But even more importantly…in the weird route they both have a vendetta to settle.
Perhaps a weird route exclusive rematch in the dark world at some point.
But really, let’s be honest.
The real reason this theory is 100% guaranteed.
